Equity & Diversity Resources

Our Position on Equity & Diversity

Equity and diversity are among our highest values here in the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia.

Equity is about recognizing barriers and disadvantages in order to direct support appropriately to ensure equal access and opportunities. We aim to break down those barriers and foster a vibrant and harmonious community so that everyone can thrive.

Diversity is about bringing different identities, perspectives, and life experiences to the collective so that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We are committed to increasing diversity in its many forms, such as race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, language, culture, national origins, religious commitments, and age.
