2024 Referenda Results

The Nursing Undergraduate Society held referenda from March 25, 2024, 13:00 hrs to March 28, 2024, 13:00 hrs. The referenda were held in accordance with NUS Bylaw 7, AMS Bylaw 14(6), Section IX A, Article 9 of the Code, and Section XII, Article 6 of the Code.

65 of 299 electors voted in this referendum with a voter turnout of 21.7%.

The results of the referenda are as follows:

Referendum 1: Indexing of NUS fee to BC CPI for inflation effective September 2025

Approved, two-thirds majority.

50 voted in favour (84.7%), 9 voted in opposition (15.3%), and 6 abstained (9.2%).

Referendum 2: Consolidating the CNSA fee into the NUS fee, increasing the NUS fee by $11 to $59 effective September 2024.

Approved, two-thirds majority.

54 voted in favour (85.7%), 9 voted in opposition (14.3%), and 2 abstained (3.1%).

Referendum 3: Amending the NUS Constitution & Bylaws

Approved, two-thirds majority.

54 voted in favour (94.7%), 3 voted in opposition (5.3%), and 8 abstained (12.3%).
